How is it already the end of May? Even though it feels like summer is on the back of my heels, I wanted to share a couple of organic makeup products that I’ve been loving this spring. I’m actually pretty proud to have been using these products every day because they kind of signify some bigger new steps I’ve taken to make my life more clean and healthy. If you’re looking to take a step into using more organic products in place of possible harmful ones, these are some brands I highly recommend.
CRUNCHI
Weird name, great product. So this was probably the biggest step for me this season because I have been very dedicated to my tinted moisturizer and powder combo for years. I thought I would never change that part of my routine up. However, I started getting some major scarring breakouts – not necessarily due to the products I was using, but nonetheless, it started to change my thinking about what was in my foundation. After all, whatever is in what you’re putting on your face gets (eventually) absorbed into your bloodstream. With that in mind, obviously foundation is the one product that most of us put the most of on. After thinking that all through, I decided I wanted to try a new totally clean foundation. While scrolling through recommended products from Organic Bunny, I saw the brand CRUNCHI. Their foundation is totally toxin free and I liked the color options, so I ordered a sample pack. I expected my experience to be a little lackluster and for this foundation to either be way too thick or way too runny. However, I loved the sample. The coverage was a lot thicker than my usual tinted moisturizer and powder, but because of the coverage I’ve actually been able to do away with powder all together, which has taken the oil content on my face way down. Huge plus. The one downside of this foundation? The price is high. But, if you’re concerned that the ingredients in your foundation are harming your body or causing breakouts, and you work a job where you want to wear makeup every day and feel good about what you’re putting on, I would suggest at least trying it out at least once.
Lotus
So I actually found this brand on Amazon, which I love because #primemember. Again, like with many high quality, organic products this stuff isn’t exactly budget friendly. However, I love the colors that Lotus has! I started out with this shimmery raspberry. It feels great on and wears well. It doesn’t have any fragrance to it and doesn’t dry my lips out, which is something high on my must list for a lipstick I’m going to wear every day. I plan to order a couple of more colors over time – just gotta pace myself with that price.
Primally Pure
Primally Pure is one of those small-batch businesses I can get behind and totally support – not just for their product, but for how they run their business and make their goods. I love following them on Instagram and found them through @fedandfit. I have never been able to use dry shampoo unless it’s just for texture after my hair is clean and dry because my hair is so, so oily – until this product. Wow. Now I understand why girls love dry shampoo so much. Haha. This stuff is amazing because it comes in a color that actually matches my hair (the darker is a nice medium brown, but they have blonde too) and it comes out in a salt-shaker style instead of a spray, which I think is great because you can get a lot more on. It’s also great just as a texturizer, if you’re not trying to get another day out of your hair but just want volume. Five stars and beyond, I plan to buy this stuff on the regular because during these crazy-busy weeks it has saved me so much time instead of trying to wash and style my hair. Way to go, Primally Pure.
Well, those are my picks for this season! If you have been using or have seen any organic products that I should try, please let me know! I want to find a really nice organic sunscreen for this summer as well as some facial peels… Have an awesome week!
