This year I kept my goals pretty simple! Honestly, I only changed/switched out a couple of them from last year.
Overall, I am focusing my goals on creativity and wholeness/wellness this year. During my times of prayer back in December and January, I just felt like these are the two things that kept coming up in every area of my life, both personal and business-wise. The workshops that I host for creatives (Rever Workshop) are taking this direction as well as this blog, so it just makes to create my goals around these areas!
Since this is my first blog post sharing my yearly goals, I should mention that I utilize Lara Casey’s Powersheets to plan my goals–– both yearly and monthly. I know for others simply writing them down works for them, but I love the prompts that Lara includes to get me thinking about what I really, really want to make happen.
Usually I include both personal and business goals in my Powersheets, but this year I am only including my personal goals. The reason behind this is I have pretty detailed business plans for my businesses/projects, and so I already know what my month-to-month goals are. As well,
Alright, here we go: Here are my 2020 goals!
INVEST IN WELLNESS AND FITNESS
Action goals:
- Spending time moving each day – even if it’s just a walk
- Workout three times a week
- Stick to my nutritional meal plan – 95% meat, fruits, and veggies
- Limit my time on Instagram/Facebook to only 30 minutes a day (I put this one under wellness because the less I’m on social media scrolling the more clearly I think!)
SPEND TIME BEING CREATIVE
Action goals:
- Schedule two hours a week for creative time (some ideas I wrote down for this are making a loaf of bread, trying making polymer clay earrings, or practicing gouache painting!)
GROW SPIRITUALLY
Action goals:
- Get up early enough for an hour of quiet time – 20 minutes of scripture, 20 minutes of prayer journaling, and 20 minutes of meditation/silence
- Memorize one Bible verse/passage a month
- Lead our church life group 2x a month
- Find somewhere new to volunteer 1x a month at church
BUILD PASSION PROJECT (that’s this blog!)
- Blog 1x a week
- Show up on social media 5x a week via pre-scheduled content
- Research/learn more about creative coaching
- Host a community event
- Start a podcast (this one is lofty, but I think it’d be so fun!)
RENEWAL (these are all small goals that I can interject through my months to help me stay rejuvenated)
- Read through my 2020 reading list (okay, this one is also lofty… because my book list has 40 books on it. I know, I know–– it’s a lot. At the time of writing this I am through 3 of those 40 books. In order to meet this goal, I will need to really be diligent about choosing to read during my free time.)
- Take one day off a month (I’ve always wanted to do this but feel like it’s such a lazy thing to do. But, I’ve been reading about how having free time/space allows for more creativity in your life, so I’m calling these my “creative days.”)
- Plan a garden in the spring and tend to it through summer
- Travel (right now we only have plans for Cali in March, but I think we’ll also do some sort of travel trip for our 5th anniversary.)
- Go camping
- Start adding microderm to my skincare routine
- Stay disciplined with my night-time routine and go to bed on time
- Flower arrange just for fun once per quarter
- Go hiking a couple of times
- Lay in my hammock as much as possible
INVEST IN MARRIAGE & FAMILY
- Read 2 parenting books
- Get CPR certified
- Go out for a date 1x a month with Jared
GROW DEEPER FRIENDSHIPS
Under this goal I just wrote the names of some ladies I want to get to know better this year!
And there they are! A month in, my goals have been going pretty good. I tried not to plan much in January and instead focused on planning and preparing. Now in February, I’m trying to keep the same slow approach and just do my most important tasks and leave room for things like reading and working out.
I’ll try to do a monthly blog post update each month this year to record how my progress goes!
