I love charcuterie boards because they are quick and easy to pull together, but make a good impression when you need to bring something to a gathering. I thought I would quickly share how I put together this Christmas inspired charcuterie board I made a few weeks ago.
Step one: Start with cheese
I like to use a blue cheese as well as a “white” cheese so that there are two types of flavors to choose from and bring variety. Placing these adjacent from each other creates a nice “frame” for the board.
Step two: Incorporate herbs
Now that the cheese is on the plate, I think a great festive touch are some herbs. I used some sage as well as rosemary. While these probably won’t be eaten (let’s be honest) they are more of a Christmas-y garnish.
Step three: Add fruit
Now that the cheese and herbs are down, I like to put types of fruit together over the board. For this board, I had some assorted berries, cranberries, and pears.
Step four: Specialty items
I also included some pomegranates and a square of honeycomb. While these are yummy parts of the board, they’re also larger pieces used to add interest.
Tip: It’s more pleasing to the eye when like items are clumped together and placed across from each other, creating balance.
I hope that this inspired you to create your own holiday-inspired charcuterie board!
