Your brain isn’t a place for storage.
It’s a place for processing.
Every day we have hundreds of thoughts, and at any given time, many various fears, ideas, scenarios, conversations, dreams, and worries running through our head.
Trying to keep all that inside of us can turn our mental space into a circus.
We need to let that circus out and put everything where it belongs.
Journaling is a practice that helps us do just that.
Journaling has no many benefits; it helps us be mindful, gets rid of mental clutter, keeps you focused on your goals, allows you to isolate your problems and find truth, stimulates creativity and freedom, and builds community skills.
It’s is a great way to process all of what’s going on inside our head so that we can think clearly and move on with our life with clarity.
Having clarity is something many of us desire–– we want to see a clear vision and pour ourselves into what it going to fulfil us and bring us joy.
Finding that clarity often starts with simply sorting out that mental clutter. How do we do that?
Enter: a habit journaling.
But, sometimes staring at that blank page can seem daunting.
What is okay to write? Where do I start?
Today I am sharing a series of prompts that you can use to get your journaling habit started. Just choose a prompt that sticks out to you and start writing. Don’t edit, don’t worry about what you’re writing, and no, what you’re saying doesn’t even have to make sense.
You’ll be surprised what you uncover.
Let’s get started.
- What has been bothering me, worrying me, angering me lately that I’ve been ignoring?
- What is it that I fear? What do I deep down often worry is going to happen?
- What is the core reason I make the decisions that I do? Am I consciously choosing what I want do, or simply choosing what I think I should do?
- If I were to slow down enough to listen to that “little voice” in my head, I think it would say…
- When I imagine having the change to completely start over with my life, I imagine it going like this…
- If I could do anything at all, I would…
- The last time I felt the most like myself was…
- What has been working well in my life?
- What hasn’t been working well in my life?
- In what areas of your life are you seeking clarity?
I hope that these prompts help you on your journaling journey!
