I’ve always felt a weird mix of feelings about posting my goals online. A part of me wants to post them because it will make me more accountable, but that is also the exact reason why I don’t want to post them! Because I’ll have be totally honest each month about what doesn’t get done. Either way, I’ve thought about it long enough and am going to try it and see how it goes!
HOW I PLAN MY GOALS
Every month, I use my Powersheets to plan out what’s really important to me to accomplish. I highly recommend using this resource (or some other type of goal-setting printable or planner) to help you refine what actually really, really matters to you enough to make it to your to-do list.
I typically write out everything I’d ideally like to accomplish in a brainstorm kind of manner– writing down anything I can think of. Then, I go through and circle what I’d pick if I could only accomplish about 10 of those things. Those 10 things are usually then my monthly goals.
Moving on from there, I set weekly goals that reflect or help accomplish the monthly goals. And finally, probably the most important of all, I set my daily goals. My daily goals rarely change because they’re more like habit-trackers.
Below are my personal goals for October. I’ve decided not to put too many of my business-related goals in my Powersheets anymore because I have a specific, dedicated system for business goals on my Todoist/Google docs account that holds all of my biz goals + reocccuring tasks for each month (I’ll do a post on this eventually because I’m pretty in love with my system!)
Monthly goals:
- Finish a book! (currently reading Spiritual Detox and Girl, Wash Your Face at the same time)
- Decorate the front step for fall
- Book a brand photography session for my new website (excited for this!)
- Organize our spare room into a more functional/usable space instead of where random things end up (thinking about turning it into a studio/video shooting space)
- Organize our office: specifically, the closet (starting to overflow!)
- Organize the file cabinet of important papers into a binder for easier access
- Backup my laptop to hard drive
- Reduce email log time to two hours a week (this is going to be a hard one, but I’ve made progress so far and want to get to this point really badly)
- Make it through the last of the fall photo session marathon and then celebrate the beginning of #hiatus! (I’m taking most of November-December off from shooting)
- Pray over my off-season and any specific ways God wants me to use that time (specifically praying about starting my credentialing course, what books he is leading me to read, and how I can refresh myself and rebuild my creativity, spirit, and energy after a long– and kind of crazy– season)
Weekly goals:
- Read for an hour at night
- Workout at least three times a week
- Do a date night with Jared
- Do my weekly cleaning task list
- Do my weekly grocery shopping / meal planning
Daily goals:
- Take daily supplements
- In bed by 10:30pm
- Pray scripture for 10 mins
Feel free to leave a comment and tell me your goals for the month below!
